Meet Hikita. Small, awkward and quiet, he’s the runt of the high school baseball team. His habitual glare scares off everyone - everyone, that is, except Imai, star of the baseball team. Hikita’s fierce dedication to baseball earns him Imai’s friendship and respect...and perhaps more than that, as the two spend quiet evenings alone after practice in the club room. Atsuki Kyoyama’s unique style and delicate touch fills every line of Silent Voice with emotion so tender you’ll lose yourself in Imai and Hikita’s struggle to understand and accept their blossoming romance.

Awww I really enjoyed this manga. This is exactly the kind of manga that makes my heart flutter. After reading a lot of Yaoi this is a refreshing change. If you want a simple story on the pretenses of some mild boy love with interesting characters, this will more than suffice. The plot could be called some-what boring. It involving high school boys in the baseball club. Most of the events take place either in the club room or on the club grounds. Nothing dramatically happens. They talk. They train. They play baseball. And while that's happening you get an insight into the characters thoughts and emotions.
There are two main characters. One is the 'Prince' who is athletic, good looking and friends with everyone and the other is Hikita. Now Hikita has a reputation of scowling at people when he's nervous, so everyone thinks he has a scary face. Even though he's kind and hard working, everyone avoids him. The only person who knows his true self is Imai (the prince).
I like how the mangaka portrays Imai. You get an insight into his mind. He likes Hikita - scowling face and all - and becomes monopolizing over keeping his true self from everyone. Straight away you find out how Imai wants to 'see' and 'hold' Hikita. Although he doesn't act on his thoughts...it's clear that he likes him, very much.
Now about the art. The art doesn't appeal to me at all. But i some-what feel that the mangaka wasn't trying to win her fans over with the art. She was trying to express a cute little story about an ugly guy who wins the heart of the popular guy. Even though the art was plain, sketchy and dull i still found Hikita cute at times and after a while, he really warmed up to me. I will say this though: if you're looking for bi-shounens...this isn't the manga for you.
My last thoughts for this manga is it's really refreshing and a joy to read. I found myself smiling at many scenes and wanting to follow this series through and see their relationship develop more*. I liked the simplicity of the plot, the characters and above all: the romance.
*This is volume one, the story continues in volume two and three.

Silent Voice Yaoi Manga eBook Atsuki Kyoyama Reviews
It's different from the usual yaoi, it's sweet, deep and "true".
It's the first of three volumes, I can't wait to read them all!
I like stories with a beautiful seme and an ugly uke! So this manga was definitely for me! I found it quite cute!
It's like ookiku furikabutte gone yaoi! The uke is so adorable and the seme sure has the hots for him! Awesome!
What I love about this one are the characters. Hikita is such a unique uke. It is so easy to love this shy, lonely, plain and earnest boy, who is so devoted to the sports he love even if he is no good in it. I love those scenes where Hikita patiently cleaned the dirty baseballs every night. He is willing to do all the dirty jobs to be involved in baseball. Imai is your usual good looking seme. I love the developing romance between these boys, the quiet tension as they struggle with their feelings. I wish there is more on these two as this is one young love I would love to see last until they are old. The plot has a simplicity, a quiet honesty which I love. I also like the artwork, the style which I thought fitted the mood of the story.
